LMDFDG – website

LMDFDG stands for “Lass mich das für dich googeln” — roughly, “let me google that for you” — but the current version goes well beyond a simple Google demonstration. The German-language interactive tool creates a shareable short link that humorously demonstrates how a question could be searched or handed off to another service.

The appeal: a very simple core idea becomes its own interaction format through multiple destinations, different tones and optional personalisation.

Google, YouTube or ChatGPT

When a link is created, the user can choose where the question should go after the animation. The current destinations are Google, YouTube and ChatGPT. This makes LMDFDG useful for classic web search, video search and questions where an AI answer may be the more suitable destination.

Four different tones

The animation can run in four styles: Classic, Sarcastic, Annoyed and Office. The selected tone changes the wording of the animation rather than the destination itself, so the same basic idea can feel neutral, playful or deliberately dry.

Personalisation with a recipient name

An optional recipient name can be stored in the link configuration and displayed during the animation. That makes the result feel less like a generic template and more like a small message created for a specific person.

Short links and QR codes

The configuration is turned into a compact LMDFDG short link. A QR code can also be generated locally in the browser and contains only that short link, making the result easy to share in chats, forums or across devices.

Legacy compatibility

Older LMDFDG links continue to work. Existing short codes are resolved through the established short-link database, while legacy links automatically use the classic Google mode. The project could therefore evolve without breaking its previous output.

Privacy and public statistics

Public statistics show aggregate numbers only. Individual search terms and recipient names are not automatically published. The site also warns users not to place confidential or sensitive information in personalised links because anyone who knows the short link can view the included personalisation.

Why LMDFDG belongs in the portfolio

LMDFDG is a good example of a project that does not need to be large to have a clear identity. It combines humour, interaction design, short-link handling, personalisation, QR sharing and several external destination services in one focused tool.

LMDFDG is independent and is not commercially affiliated with Google, YouTube or OpenAI.
