PrepHearth approaches preparedness through the essential functions a household needs to maintain. The guiding question is less “What gear should I own?” and more “Which household functions still need to work during a disruption?”
Core household functions
Water, food, lighting, communication, power, hygiene and a safe living environment form the foundation. The content is structured so that households can improve resilience gradually instead of trying to prepare for every imaginable emergency at once.
Realistic scenarios
Power outages, severe weather, temporary supply interruptions, evacuation and shelter-in-place are central use cases. The aim is to clarify priorities and think through the practical effects of losing a normal service.
Focus areas
- emergency kits and household plans
- water storage and treatment
- food and off-grid cooking
- backup power and lighting
- communication and important information
- severe weather, evacuation and shelter-in-place
Why PrepHearth exists alongside PrepMorrow
Both projects cover household preparedness but with different structures. PrepHearth is more tightly organised around core household functions and scenarios, while PrepMorrow also leans heavily into tools, energy planning and a broader authority model. That gives each project room to develop its own identity.
